The Sustainability Council at FIT hosts an annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference every spring. The event brings together professionals from various creative industries to discuss sustainable design and thought leadership, and explore solutions to environmental and social challenges. The conference includes keynote speakers, panels, and projects on topics such as farm-to-fashion, textile development, sustainable fashion supply chain, mindfulness in design, and packaging materials and recycling.

“We chose to work with Membit because it’s the easiest and most flexible Augmented Reality platform for creating projects that really matter. As we prepare to roll this project out, we’re looking forward to our continued collaboration.”

Michael Ferraro, Executive Director of the Dtech Lab.

This year, Membit Inc was invited as a guest to use its augmented reality, highlighting contributions of the “Sustainability Heros” who have moved the fashion industry in the direction of sustainability and to inspire FIT students to put “earth things first”. The “Earth Thing First” concept was developed by Membit advisor, Cliff Medney, who has been advising the FIT grad students in communication strategy. The conference aims to highlight advances in sustainable design and encourages collaboration and discussion in the industry. “We chose to work with Membit because it’s the easiest and most flexible Augmented Reality Platform for creating projects that really matter.” said Michael Ferraro, Executive Director of the Dtech Lab. “As we prepare to roll this project out, we’re looking forward to our continued collaboration.” The flexibility of Membit allowed Michael and the rest of the DTech team to experiment with different AR experiences and to create something that they believe will have a powerful impact on all those who see it.

”Augmented Reality has a unique ability to move people’s hearts and minds because it is spacial. ” Said Jay Van Buren, CEO and Co-founder of Membit. “When people view and interact with something by moving through it, it can effect them more deeply. There’s a reason why zero important rituals can be done from your couch. When you use your body to participate in something, it can really sink in. ”
