What is a Membit Channel ?

Think of a Membit Channel as a grouping of Augmented Reality experiences that you can customize for your audience. A channel can be private or public. Private channels are available by subscription to people and institutions. For pricing on public channels please contact us!

Either way your channel can be customized to as you wish. For private channels you will be able to invite anyone you want to become a member of your channel up to the total number of members specified by your subscription level. For public channels, people who download the membit app in the vicinity of your content will see your channel and be able to see it without logging in if you choose.

Here are the details of how channels work:

When users open membit they see a) the public channels that are near them and b) the private channels they are a member of. When you sign up for a private channel, you have the ability to decide who will have access to your channel.

Your Intro screen can be as long as it needs to, it’ll scroll so people can read it all. This is where you introduce people to what your channel is about, where it is, and how you are inviting you audience to participate in your project. (example: Say Their Names invited people to use the screen-capture feature to make videos for social media)

Your channel can be a tour, a series of experiences, or a scavenger hunt like Hudson Yards Mall did in this example. The app checks off each of the membits as the user sees them and then shows them a “you won” prize graphic that is completely customizable or can link out to a URL.

Your channel’s custom map shows only your content and lets the users find their way to each of your experiences. They can tap the pins to get directions if they are not close. You can also choose to make them “remote viewable” if that makes sense for your project.

Membit channel maps open automatically to display the part of the world where your pins are located.

Every Membit on your map can have a custom pin if you choose to.

What we call a “membit” is an augmented reality experience in a given location, it can be comprised of any media or combination of media you choose, and it all appears at once when the user activates it. Our patented “Human Positioning System”™ makes it possible to place content very precisely anywhere in the world without markers or QR codes.

You can upload your own 3d models through our web-based admin system, and make them available to any users of your channel. Models will need to be in USDZ format for iOS and GLB format for Android. They can be animated and we will advise you in conforming to best practices for mobile AR.
